Kārlis Schulmeisters is the VP of Engineering at Interactio.io.
Interactio provides Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) services through the cloud, enabling clients like the European Parliament and the United Nations to hold meetings with full real-time interpretation while working remotely or in hybrid setups.
Kārlis started his career as a Systems Developer in Microsoft, where he worked on the original Windows NT LAN Manager password and Identity Control System development. Here, he was also responsible for the Global Identity Architecture using the Kerberos-based Active Directory.
As a Senior Consulting CTO at Unisys Corporation, Kārlis collaborated on RealId and other security projects. Additionally, he has been involved in the design and management of IoT-based security solutions and has a strong foundation in Cloud and NLP/AI environments.
Kārļis’ favorite example of security: “You do not use a 10,000 EUR safe to protect a 10 EUR note, but you also don’t store 10,000 EUR in cash simply locked in your desk drawer. Security and safe human behavior are inherent in the cost and risk analysis and tradeoff.”
