By combining a natural gas engine and fuel cell, MicroEra Power is developing a highly efficient Enhanced Combined Heat and Power (CHP) System. Their vision is to fully develop an energy management tool to provide back-up power generation, peak-shaving, demand response, and the efficiency benefits of combined heat and power (CHP), as well as combined heat and cooling power(CHCP). It’s pretty cool.

They truly believe that it’s critical to be able to give people control over their own home energy consumption. Their product makes it easy to understand your home energy use, even on the go, and helps you to make better decisions on what you want running. Also, it’s a lot of fun to use.

You can basically think of them like a community garden, but for solar power. You don’t have to install anything on your roof, but if you opt-in to a neighborhood co-op of panels, you can live cleaner and and more efficiently.

H2GO Power

As an award winning spin-out company from the University of Cambridge, H2GO Power is developing safe and low-cost hydrogen production and storage technologies. Their mission is to bring affordable reliable energy to millions across the globe in a green way for large social and environmental impact. What all of this looks like in actual application is that they’ve developed a way that smartphones, for example, could last 5x longer than ones that are using current battery technology and all-electric vehicles with the same range as combustion engine counterparts.
